Six years ago our life took on a new purpose and meaning when our sweet son Liam was diagnosed with SSADH deficiency (Succinic Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase Deficiency) when he was 6 months old. For those affected by this rare pediatric neurotransmitter disease, the ability to walk, eat, speak and communicate can be quite challenging — but our family has witnessed the unbelievable inspiration that also comes from these challenges.
We are delighted to share with you that Liam has made great strides learning to walk over the past year. His hard work and determination continue to amaze us and his progress has only strengthened our family’s mission to support research and services that will help children and families who are impacted by SSADH deficiency.

Liam’s Links is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization created to raise awareness and research funding for SSADH (Succinic Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase) deficiency, a rare pediatric neurotransmitter disease.
Characterized by the lack of an enzyme needed for neurotransmitters in the brain to correctly signal one another, SSADH symptoms vary from case to case. Most individuals, however, are affected by significant delays in the development of communication and motor skills.
Today there are approximately 400 diagnosed cases of this disease, and, while there is no known cure, medical advancements are already being made that can further improve the quality of life for those children who are affected.
